| B.R. Durham & Sons Pty. Ltd., one of the oldest and privately owned and operated foundries in Australia, is supportive of industry and government requirements for Access Grates and Covers to be manufactured, identified and marketed in compliance with Australian Standard, AS 3996:1992.
The company is a designer, manufacturer, importer and exporter of products licenced by Benchmark, to comply with these requirements. All products manufactured and marketed as compliant to AS3996:1992, display the following details, legibly cast or stamped on the product.
B.R. Durham & Sons Pty. Ltd., have serious concerns that manufacturers who have invested a substantial amount of time and money implementing product and quality management systems do not gain the sales rewards for their efforts in meeting industry-government compliance requirements. Most industry-government contract documents stipulate metal access covers and frames shall comply with AS 3996:1992, when in fact many purchased products do not. In most cases this is due to the contractors “working to price” and not product compliance requirements as stipulated, we supply both. Many people just do not fully understand the difference between certified and non-certified metal access covers and frames, or the compliance identification marking to look for. B.R. Durham & Sons Pty. Ltd are committed to operate under the requirements of certified quality systems, they offer this publication to advance the knowledge of those responsible for product purchase, product installation and contract management. This aim of this publication is assist the reader in understanding the difference between certified and non-certified metal access covers and frames and certified and non-certified company management systems. | ||
